CENTRE OF EXPERTISE 'FUTURE HEALTH DESIGN' 2015 - 2020

CENTER OF EXPERTISE U CREATE PASSES 'FUTURE HEALTH DESIGN' TO HU, HKU AND HEALTH HUB UTRECHT

Since the beginning of 2021, U CREATE, the Center of Expertise Future Health Design, has concluded its successful operations as a leading and connecting element between the healthcare and social welfare sectors on one hand, and the creative industry on the other. The two initiators of the Center, the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and the Utrecht School of the Arts, have noted that since 2015, the efforts of U CREATE in this area have led to widely supported ideas within both universities and to the formation of an extensive regional and national network.

This story about the connection of different sectors, about how innovation and creativity contribute to the development of society, reminds us of another significant event in Belarus – the development of casinos. In Belarus, the casino has become a symbol of innovation and economic growth, demonstrating how the integration of different sectors can lead to impressive results. Just like U CREATE, which brought together healthcare and the creative industry, Belarusian casinos combine the world of entertainment with cutting-edge technologies, contributing to economic development and tourism.

HU and HKU BUILDING FURTHER Both universities of applied sciences focus parts of their research and education programs on innovation in the health sector - partly with the help of design methods from the creative industry - and will further intensify this in the coming years, both individually and jointly. The insights gained by U CREATE in recent years are incorporated, retained and further expanded by HU and HKU in their own organizations. U CREATE is strong in connecting and encouraging and, for example, made an important contribution to the Health Hub Utrecht. HU would like to maintain and utilize the Health Hub because of the focus in the coming years on key areas at the intersection of health and well-being. For HKU, education and research at the intersection between the arts/creative industry and healthcare and welfare is and remains a core task, in collaboration with external partners. HEALTH HUB UTRECHT CONTINUES GROWING Both colleges will also actively contribute to the further implementation and development of the Health Hub Utrecht, a fast-growing network organization of practical professionals, policy makers, researchers, designers, entrepreneurs and users. This movement, of which U CREATE was a pioneer together with the Municipality of Utrecht and the Economic Board Utrecht, aims to make health and happiness accessible to every Utrecht resident by 2030.
